MEET JANET HUGHES

Janet was born in Norfolk and has lived in the Norfolk/Suffolk area all her life; the countryside and the sea sit right around the corner.

Growing up, she spent many happy hours with her grandad in the garden where he taught her how to care for plants. He passed down not only the knowledge he carried, but his vast appreciation and affinity with all of nature’s gifts from vast open skies to dragonfly wings.

These are the main sources of inspiration behind Janet’s artworks.

Largely self-taught, her motivation is fuelled by the way she admires the beauty she sees in the world around her, and having always had a talent for acrylic & watercolour painting, uses this to illustrate the wonderful scenery and the little lives that inhabit it, so that others can appreciate them too. Currently, her studio consists of the dining room table, at her home which she shares with her daughter Lottie and her two little black dogs Oscar and Henry.
